Panel Citations

I want to thank everyone who made Modern Mythology a rousing success. This was my first time using slides to illustrate the different series and points I make during the course of the panel, and I'm glad all my subtle insertions and subtext came through so well. I look forward to giving this panel again in the future, and I take everyone's suggestions into account (for example, explain more the different between mythology and religion; use more of God of War and Xeno-series, I do pay attention to your comments). This panel, like the mythology it contains, is evolving and forever looking for new ground.

I know a good amount of people asked me to list the series credited during the panel. So here it is, a list of every anime and game I used in the slides. I will post the slides themselves very soon, but probably not on this site.

  1. I attended your panel and I thought it was one of the most fascinating and well done panels I've been to in a good long time, if ever. Your examples were all spot on the mark. I hope you continue to come back to Anime Boston, as I will definitely be looking forward to your panel(s) again next year!

Which Anime did you compare with aeon flux?

  3. I just wanted to let you know how much I adored this panel! Going to panels has never been a high priority of mine, probably because every one I've ever been to sucked. Either the topic had great potential and the host is a horrible presenter, or the presenter is great and the material is weak. But your panel was interesting, funny, educational, AND you were extremely good at it. I hope you return to Anime Boston in the future so I can attend more of your panels! :D (I would have gone to the Eva one except I still haven't finished watching it... whoops!)

  4. @ anonymous: The series I mentioned was Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne. It's very similar to Aeon Flux in progression and level of violence (perhaps more so), but the episodes are a good deal longer (about an hour each, 6 in total).

It's a recent release, I got it at Katsucon this past February.

@ Mike/Zero: Thank you for the kind words, it means a lot to me to know people enjoy my panels. I like sharing what I've learned with others, and I'm always one to make sure everyone has a good time. I'm already working on new material for Modern Mythology, so the next time I give it it will be different.

I hope to make it back to Boston Next year with new material and new panels.

@zero: Then you really need to finish Eva. I don't want to spoil the end for you.
